Sona is a Founding Member and Deputy Director of the Transparency International Anti-corruption Centre (TIAC), a local NGO that is accredited to represent the Transparency International (TI) global anti-corruption movement in Armenia. TI is an international NGO and its Berlin-based Secretariat coordinates anti-corruption activities in more than 90 countries of the world through its national chapters. The chapters are independent local NGOs free to develop their own polices. TIAC's activities include research, monitoring and advocacy aimed at supporting effective anti-corruption policy and transparent and accountable governance; supporting the conduct of free, fair and transparent elections and the establishment of electoral institute; promoting reasonable, transparent and accountable public resource management; fostering democratic processes, including protection of human rights and public participation in the governance processes of the country.
Along with acting as TIAC’s Deputy Director Sona leads a number of projects related to good governance. She also serves as the Environmental Policy Expert of the organization, promoting environmental democracy and implementation of the UNECE Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters (Aarhus Convention).
