Nigar Ismayilzada

Nigar is the Deputy Head of the Vocational Training and Education (VET) Department at the Ministry of Education in Azerbaijan.

She has served in various senior roles in the Ministry of Education and previously held positions at Eurasia Partnership Foundation/World Bank and Save the Children. Nigar is an observing member representing Eastern Partnership Countries at the Governing Board of the European Union Agency for Vocational Education, European Training Foundation.

She has a BA in Philology (English) from Ganja State University and a Masters in Linguistics from the University of Languages and is an alumna of the Edmund S. Muskie Graduate Fellowship Program.

Her action plan focuses on building a stronger link between national education policy and employment and social needs, including improving legislation. She will pilot VET financing models such as public-private partnerships and engaging the private sector for supporting skills development, entrepreneurship and vocational education guidance for the youth.
