In 2011, Zeynab was promoted to the position of Legal Department Manager of Azerkimya, one of the biggest production units of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) specializing in the production of petrochemical products. She is responsible for up to 15 legal advisors, working in a variety of Azerkimya plants/factories.
Zeynab's previous position at SOCAR was Senior Legal Advisor. Working within the company’s Legal Department, she was responsible for formulating legal opinion on issues related to international infrastructure, and environmental and corporate social responsibility projects.
SOCAR undertakes large-scale oil and gas exploration and production including the Azeri-Chiraq-Gunashli oil field development, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, and the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline. SOCAR is developing further pipeline projects including the Trans-Caspian/Black Sea Energy Corridor, and the extension of the Odessa-Brody oil pipeline to Plock and Gdansk. SOCAR is expanding its corporate social responsibility activities particularly focusing on mitigating the effects of industrial development on the regional environment. It is currently implementing the Action Plan on Improvement of Ecological Situation 2006-2010. Since 2007 the company has been working in Bibiheybat and the Absheron peninsula, solving problems related to the large-scale environmental pollution inherited from the Soviet era and returning the land to cultivation.
SOCAR’s legal department provides support for this corporate social responsibility activity. The department is responsible for preparing and drafting loan agreements with World Bank and works closely with the Ecological Projects Management Department.
