Meder is a Legal Advisor at the US Embassy in Kyrgyz Republic. He plays a key role in supporting the government’s criminal justice reform programme, in particular, the implementation of new criminal justice legislation, which includes five new codes and laws that will be enforced on January 1, 2019. He holds a law degree from Kyrgyz Russian Slavic University.
Previously Meder has worked on international development projects with specific focus on rule of law, legislative process, democratic governance and electoral assistance as well as for national and local level government authorities.
Meder’s action plan is to contribute to the implementation of the new system of state guaranteed free legal aid in Kyrgyzstan. Meder plans to introduce mechanisms to incentivise lawyers from different sectors to participate in the state guaranteed free legal aid programme and to provide good quality legal aid for vulnerable sections of the population and develop measures to monitor progress and ensure a consistently high standard of legal advice is delivered across the board.
