Nazgul is an independent expert in the mining sector and director of the Subsoil Public Foundation, the mission of which is to promote good governance in the sector. She has been engaged in the mining industry for the last six years, having worked with the government and international organisations. As a consultant for an international think tank, Nazgul has been advancing the use of international good practice in government decision-making through rigorous analysis and advocacy. She also worked with the State Agency for Geology and Mineral Resources, where she contributed to reforms in the subsoil use licensing regime and helped decrease widespread local conflict in mining areas. She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business Administration from the American University of Central Asia.
Nazgul’s action plan is to expand her portfolio to broader governance challenges, including public sector management. Nazgul wants to strengthen and consolidate the work of civil society, media, academia and independent researchers to advance the use of independent, evidence-based analysis by the Kyrgyzstan government in its decision-making.
