Liliya Shcheglova

Liliya is a Russian John Smith Fellow from the 2006 cohort and joined the JST team in 2010. Liliya’s professional work now focuses on the development of dialogue between business, civil society and government in addition to lobbying for the public interest in both the Russian government and international organisations. From 2000 to 2007 Liliya worked on developing Russian civil society. In this time she created two pro-government political youth organisations and her own Foundation, which covered more than 30,000 volunteers across 52 cities in Russia. After participating in the John Smith Fellowship Programme in 2006 Liliya became actively involved in international relations, which subsequently led to her joining the government. From 2007 to 2010 she worked at the State Committee for Youth Affairs within the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She was also an official representative of Russia to the Council of Europe and the head of the working group of the Barents Sea/Euro -Arctic Region.
