Maxim Chereshnev

Maxim was appointed as Adviser to the Minister of Regional Development of the Russian Federation in March 2014. Prior to this he was a member of the Board of Directors of Novosibirsk Expocentre - the largest expocentre in Russia beyond Urals (in Siberia and Far East). He is also the head of an Exhibitions Committee of the Russian Business Association "Business Russia", where he is responsible for all International Exhibitions and cooperation. In addition he is Adviser to the Head of Subcommittee on Technologies and Innovations of the State Duma of Russian Federation.

Maxim was formerly a Member of the Council for Youth Policy in the Upper Chamber of Russian Parliament; a Member of the Governor´s Committee on Youth policy; a Member of the Community Chamber of the Novosibirsk Region; and a Member of the Youth Parliament Assembly in the upper Chamber of the Russian Parliament.

As a John Smith Fellow Maxim worked on a media reform project with the Journalists´ Association of Novosibirsk. The project has recruited some of the best journalists in the region to teach young people about journalism and provide practical work experience opportunities. Maxim is also worked on a programme with regional political parties to increase youth participation in politics and increase the turnout of young voters in elections.

He was previously Head of the Siberian International Innovative Business Congress and Head of the NGO Fund of Youth Policy of the Novosibirsk region. The Fund improves public services for young people and involves young people in political and social initiatives.
