Nazeeha Saeed is the Bahrain Correspondent for Radio Monte Carlo (Bahrain Office) and France 24 (a French TV broadcaster). She also works part-time as a Senior Journalist for the Aswaq Newspaper and conducts freelance work for ITN, the BBC and Al Majallah Magazine. Her work covers business, politics, society and sports – most notably Nazeeha was heavily involved in the coverage of the events in Bahrain during the uprising in 2011.
Nazeeha´s work on the uprisings resulted in her being detained by Bahraini police. She now works closely with international organisations to defend the freedom of the media in Bahrain and the rights of both Bahraini and non-Bahraini journalists. She is a member and former-president of the Bahrain International Circuit Media Club, member of the Bahrain Journalists Association, the Red Crescent Society, and the Al Reef Women Society. She is also a founding member of the Al Shabeeba Youth Society and Bahrain Correspondent Club.
As a John Smith Fellow Nazeeha plans to create a training programme for journalists in the Arab region, encouraging them to understand their rights in situations such as riots or detention.
