Lana Nimri is an Attorney at Law and consultant with over 12 years of national and international experience. She has been a member of the Jordan Bar Association since 2000 and holds an LL.M in International and European Legal Studies from the University of Durham, she is currently undertaking an MBA (Distance Learning) with the University of Leicester.
She is currently the Legal Advisor to the EU funded Projects managed by the Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO) - Jordan’s chief SME development agency.
As a John Smith Fellow, Lana's action plan was to promote workers' rights in Jordan. In 2013 she founded the Jordan Better Workplace Association an NGO working to improve and strengthen labour relations in Jordanian SME’s by; creating unique and comprehensive labour relations training and legal support tools, and improving the effectiveness of labour dispute prevention and resolution through establishing an institution that provides specialised mediation services.
Her prior positions include: EU Affaires Officer at the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, where she managed the bilateral trade negotiations as well as a number of technical files and projects; representative for Jordan in the Energy Charter Secretariat in Brussels; Legal Officer with Talal Abu Ghazaleh Organisation in Amman; and associate with leading Jordanian law firms working on corporate and commercial law issues.
