Nart Dohjoka is Project Manager of the Science for Peace Initiative at the Royl Scientific Society (RSS) in Jordan.
Previously he was Chief of Staff at El Hassan Science City (EHSC) in Amman. Nart is a strong believer in the value of Science Diplomacy and its uses as tool of peace in post-conflict situations or even a preventive approach. Science Diplomacy can have a great impact on the lives of many people by connecting local scientists with international counterparts and this in turn would generate hope for a better future.
At EHSC Nart had the opportunity to assist in a wide range of Science Diplomacy efforts under the guidance of HRH Prince El Hassan and HRH Princess Sumaya of Jordan. The focus of these initiatives was been to promote dialogue, to facilitate capacity building in education and research, and to build stability in the Middle East and Western Asia. Nart has a Master’s degree from the University of St Andrews in the field of Peace and Conflict Studies
Nart believes that the role of Science Diplomacy should be pivotal for the success of nations working collectively to improve the quality of their citizens’ lives and to address local and regional challenges to issues such as energy, water, environment, poverty, urbanisation, climate change and food security. It is Nart’s aim to use the Royal Scientific Society in Jordan as a catalyst to establish a platform to engage scientists and decision makers, capitalising on the RSS’s alumni network of scientists and researchers around the world.
