Raed Madanat is Founder and Managing Partner of Beyond Excellence, a Jordanian training company offering advice to start-ups and young entrepreneurs from marginalised communities outside the capital. He has considerable training experience and has designed and delivered workshops to entrepreneurs and community support officers in Jordan, Libya, Egypt and Yemen. Raed also works with the UK branch of the Mowgli Foundation, which brings together young Arab entrepreneurs with experienced business people in 12-month mentoring projects. In 2012 Raed represented Jordanian communities at the Active Citizen Summit in San Francisco and Washington D.C hosted by the US State Department in partnership with the American Council of Young Political Leaders.
As a John Smith Fellow Raed is keen to design and deliver workshops and training programmes for pupils aged between 6 and 8 years old. The training initiatives will focus on teaching values of respect, honesty, and responsibility rather than building specific skills. Raed believes that that the encouragement of an open and tolerant attitude among today’s Jordanian children will contribute to nurturing future generations of Jordanians committed to improving their country and society.
