Zain Batarseh co-ordinates the Case Processing Unit at the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in Amman. Her responsibilities include supervision and evaluation of case creation processes including applicant employment verification. Zain also carries out liaison with regional migration organisations including the regional UNHCR offices, the US Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration and several American resettlement agencies. She is involved in the P-3 Programme focused on migrants whose biological relatives have already sought asylum in the USA.
Zain’s Action Plan aims to develop a programme in co-operation with the IOM in Jordan for the provision of assistance to Syrian refugees who reside outside of regular refugee camps (75% of all Syrian refugees in Jordan) and had been victims of torture, trafficking and other forms of physical and psychological violence. The programme also includes the production of a short educational film devoted to the problem of human trafficking and other information campaigns aimed at raising general awareness about human trafficking among Jordanian university students.
