Elie Fahed is First Lieutenant in the Lebanese Internal Security Forces (ISF). He is Assistant Leader of the Policing Pilot Project (PPP) run out of the Ras Beirut Police Station. In his role Elie is responsible for organising and monitoring community patrol teams, supervising investigative work of the station, and ensuring that interventions are carried out timely and professionally. Elie previously worked within the Anti-Riot Unit and the Black Panthers Group - a special forces unit.
As a John Smith Fellow Elie is developing information programme aimed at encouraging greater trust in the Lebanese police force among young people. The project will consist of a series of conferences at local schools and colleges followed by educational visits to the Internal Security Forces cadet school and the Ras Beirut Police Station, during which the participants will directly observe the work of the police forces.
