Mohammed Al Marzouqi

Mohammed Al Marzouqi is a Chief Public Prosecutor and the Official Spokesman for the Public Prosecution Authority in Oman. Mohammed’s field of expertise lies in maritime piracy law, having led investigations into all maritime piracy cases that have occurred off the coast of Oman since 2009 and conducting a review of Oman’s national legislation to ensure its compliance with international piracy laws.

As a John Smith Fellow Mohammed is exploring more thoroughly the international efforts in the fight against maritime piracy. Through his role as Official Spokesman he then hopes to inform and educate the international media on piracy laws so that they can report incidents more accurately – ultimately raising awareness and ensuring that the law is more consistently applied.
