What level is the course at and do I need any special skills?
The course is an introductory course and no prior knowledge or skills are required. Energy and enthusiasm are more important than writing experience. It is also suitable for foreign language students with an acceptable level of English.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside of class?
This is a very practical course, focusing on both group and individual work. We will discuss articles, you will create your own copy, and there will be assignments to do outside of class.

All City Lit writing courses will include a master class element. This means that students will create work that will be discussed in an open and constructive environment with the instructor and other students. The college has a constructive criticism policy, and all feedback on another student’s work from the instructor and other students must be presented in that spirit.

For classes longer than one day, regular reading and writing exercises will be set to be completed at home on a due date.

Are there any other expenses? Is there anything I need to bring?
Buying publications/magazines from your target area is recommended.

All students are invited to attend evening workshops from our instructors, which are held daily after 6:00 p.m., except on weekends.
